PixelRain combines visual storytelling with compelling copy to bring brands to life
Discover how copywriters and filmmakers work together to capture the essence of a brand through video.
“Our working relationship with Radix is characterised by creativity and professionalism. We really appreciate the team’s ability to transform complex, technical subjects into accessible and engaging content.”

It’s not often that we get the opportunity to work directly with the people that turn our copy into the final, polished content that you see in print and online. There are usually at least a couple of layers of stakeholders between us and the designers, web developers, or videographers.
But that’s not the case with Radix and PixelRain.
Since 2015, we’ve collaborated closely with this video production company, working in tandem to conceptualise and produce the scripts for projects ranging from financial software launches to a brief history of lithium mining in Cornwall.
A creative challenge for writers
Video scripts are a perennial favourite of the writing team here at Radix. As one of our less frequently requested formats, scripts challenge us not only to think about how our copy might sound aloud but also to find compelling ways to tell a story in the tightest of word counts. (With the average person speaking at around 130 words per minute – preferably a little slower for a nicely paced video – you definitely don’t want a script that tries to cram 500 words into three minutes of voice over.)
This means drawing out a central concept with one eye on what the client is expecting the final product to look and sound like. And that’s much easier to do when you’re working with people like Rich Stephens and Grant Batty at PixelRain, who understand how a good script supports strong visuals, especially when the video covers a complex or technical topic.
“The Radix writers consistently impress us with their thoroughness and dedication,” says Rich Stephens, Director and Co-Founder at PixelRain. “They take the time to understand not only the brief from a video production perspective but also to delve deep into the client’s brand and subject matter. This comprehensive approach results in scripts that truly capture the essence of what we’re trying to communicate.”
Detailed scripts translate into strong visuals
In every document we create, we try to make life that little bit easier for the next person in the content production pipeline. In copy that’s meant to be read, that means indicating where boxouts, quotes, and stats should be positioned – but we take it to an entirely new level in our video scripts.
Each script document is broken down into columns that make it clear which pieces of copy are intended as voice over and which should be displayed as text on screen. The script itself is arranged in rows that break the text down into small chunks, which help manage the timing and pacing of the voice over.
Before we start, our writers already have insight into the fresh footage PixelRain plans to capture, and whether there’s any additional content available, such as brand images or archive footage. This means we’re also able to include notes about where we think images, animations or text should appear, to help the PixelRain team work their magic once the copy is signed off.
“Radix scripts stand out for their exceptional layout and detail,” says Rich. “They’re easy to read and well-structured, but what truly sets them apart are the writer’s notes on how they envision the film looking and feeling at various points in the story.”
“Radix writers consider not just the words, but how they will translate to the screen, which is invaluable for our production process.”

An experienced team behind the scenes
Coordinating with both our clients and creative partners can add a bit of extra complexity to the project management, but it’s worth it for a more cohesive production process and stronger final result.
Fortunately, it’s nothing our experienced account managers can’t handle. “Our experience with Radix’s account management has been excellent. Their behind-the-scenes efforts ensure that all aspects of our projects run smoothly,” adds Rich.
“Radix’s professional, reliable, and creative approach gives us confidence that they will always deliver high-quality results. When Radix is part of our creative team on a video production, we know we’re in good hands.”
